Kofax Rebrands as Tungsten Automation

Kofax, a global provider of intelligent document workflow-automation solutions, announced today that it’s been renamed to Tungsten Automation.

The company says this new name embodies the characteristics of its workflow-automation software: “robust, reliable, and purpose-built to deliver unparalleled innovation.” The change is also said to reflect Kofax’s evolution from a pioneer in document capture to a global provider of intelligent, AI-powered workflow automation solutions.

Acquisition of Tungsten Associates

The name change also appears to reflect Kofax’s acquisition of Tungsten Associates in June 2023 for an undisclosed sum.

At the time, London-based Tungsten was said to be the world’s largest, compliant business-transaction network, providing a global B2B electronic invoicing (e-invoicing) network that streamlines complex invoice-to-pay processes.

Beginnings in Document Capture

Kofax, which is nearly 40 years old, began as a document-capture company, helping businesses transition from paper-based processing to automated data entry, enabling document management, and enhancing operations.

Over the years, the company evolved into a leader of intelligent automation, providing businesses with the capabilities needed to automate their most critical content- and data-intensive workflows. Today, its cloud-first Gen-AI powered workflow automation solutions are said to be significantly improving efficiency and reducing costs for many of the world’s largest companies.

Intelligent Document Processing (IDP) Capabilities

This new identity is also said to better augment the company’s leading Intelligent Document Processing (IDP) capabilities, adding value to its portfolio of solutions, particularly in the areas of traditional invoice processing, e-invoicing, and automating accounts payable processes, server-less print management, and document productivity. And, as of today, the company is a global entity with over 2,200 employees across 32 countries, and a global partner ecosystem serving over 25,000 customers.

“Tungsten Automation represents a pivotal moment in our journey as we continue to expand our portfolio of solutions and bring the latest technological innovations to meet the ever-changing needs of our customers,” explained Tungsten Automation CEO Reynolds Bish. “This change highlights the depth and breadth of our trusted workflow automation solutions, culture of innovation and continued commitment to staying ahead of the curve in helping our customers improve their efficiency and reduce costs with intelligent automation solutions they can trust.”
