Kodak Alaris Partners with TAIGER for AI-Based Text Recognition

TAIGER and Kodak Alaris today announced a global strategic alliance that the firms says will help end-users intelligently automate complex business tasks for greater  efficiency in the workplace.

TAIGER specializes in Artificial Intelligence (AI), and its AI-based software is said to employ human-like logic to automatically read, understand, and extract information from documents, guaranteeing un-rivaled levels of accuracy of 90 percent and above. TAIGER is headquartered in Singapore with offices in Hong Kong, New York, Madrid, and Mexico

The agreement enables TAIGER to integrate its AI-based software with Kodak Alaris’ document scanners.

TAIGER will focus first on certifying the Kodak Scan Station 730EX and the Alaris S2060w Scanners for use with TAIGER’s advanced artificial intelligence solutions. Kodak Alaris says the combined functionality of TAIGER’s software and Alaris’ hardware will allow organizations to securely and efficiently scan, store, and search large volumes of documents in a network-connected environment.

For example, Kodak Alaris notes that the client onboarding process of one of the largest banks in Europe and Latin America requires prospective customers to submit physical and digital versions of many types of documents. Automating the capture, extraction, and validation of information from these documents and seamlessly inputting it into a Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system presents a tremendous opportunity to improve performance and drive efficiencies, while minimizing costs and errors. By working with TAIGER, the bank was able to reduce total processing time by 90 percent and total costs by 80 percent.

Through its new alliance with Alaris, Kodak Alaris says TAIGER is positioned to deliver even better performance against Service Level Agreements than ever before.

The partnership between TAIGER and Alaris will also bring mutual benefits through channel network access, which will help both companies identify new partners to resell Kodak Alaris and TAIGER solutions.

Taking Automation to the Next Level

Kodak Alaris says it provides “best in class image quality and data extraction with Perfect Page Technology, Smart Touch Software and Capture Pro Software, which sets the stage for automation to be successful.

The firm notes that, with traditional scanners, optical character recognition (OCR) software is used to distinguish printed or handwritten text characters inside digital images of physical documents, such as a scanned paper document. Depending on the quality of the document, however, results can be inaccurate, and text can be missed or unclear, making information classification difficult.

While Kodak Alaris scanners offer “best-in-class OCR read rates,” with TAIGER’s technology, select models of Alaris scanners will now use AI-based software to recognize and interpret text, whether it’s a name, address, or other important information that an organization requires. This capability is not available in traditional OCR solutions and will be a key differentiator for TAIGER and Alaris.
