HP Previews Paper Delivery for Instant Ink Subscribers

As we previously reported, last month at the Cowan 50th Annual Technology, Media and Telecom Conference, HP CEO Enrique Lores revealed a new pilot paper-delivery program for its Instant Ink toner and ink subscribers. “We have been testing now the service of delivering paper to these customers, which is another key value proposition because if you print at home having to go buy paper (is) heavy, very painful, and we are going to be delivering that,” said Lores.

HP also recently posted a video announcing the service to Youtube. We can see from the video that Instant Ink subscribers can add automatic paper delivery to their subscription via the Instant Ink user dashboard at HP.com. Once they sign into their Instant Ink account, a pop-up asks them if they’d like to add HP paper to their Instant Ink subscription; HP automatically then delivers paper, which is 20 lb., 96 Bright HP paper. HP also notes its Zero Deforestation program under which it replants trees to replace trees harvested for paper.

The company hasn’t yet provided pricing or further details. We assume that, as with the Instant Ink program, customers select the amount of paper they expect to use per month, and pay a monthly cost for it.
