Hands-On Test Report, Videos, Photo Gallery: Brother’s ImageCenter ADS-3000N Document Scanner

Scan Quality
Shown below is a cropped version of an uncompressed TIFF scan of an 8.5″ x 11″ image quality test target at maximum settings (24-bit color, 1,200 x 1,200 dpi). Note that the full-size image had a file size of 383 Mb and the cropped version shown had to be converted into a compressed format in order to conform to platform standards. As one can see, scan quality is not an issue. Note that apparent anomalies are primarily due to file compression and the condition of the hard-copy test target that we employed.

Hardware Installation
Hardware installation and setup is very simple and can be done in a matter of minutes. Software and network installation is via an installation utility.

Software Installation
Software and network installation is via an installation utility. However, there is a lot of software that can be installed during the rather balky process and it takes additional time and effort to program individual user preferences and permissions, shortcuts, and destinations. We recommend that administrators and installers determine the degree of functionality required for each user’s PC and customize the software installation accordingly. As such, for the purposes of support and evaluation, only an administrator PC will require installation of the full software suite.
