Xaar CEO Doug Edwards (CEO) and Professor Neil Hopkinson, director of Xaar’s 3- printing business, unveil a plaque for the Xaar 3D Center.

Sign+ Magazine reports that late last month,  Xaar officially opened its Xaar 3D Center in Nottingham Science Park in the United Kingdom. The center will offer its research and development resources to the high-speed sintering (3D-printing) industry.

High-speed sintering is an additive-manufacturing 3D-printing technology that uses inkjet print heads and infrared drying, with objects built up layer-by-layer using polymer powder material. It’s said to be much faster, and cost less than other 3D-printing processes, according to Xaar.

The Xaar 3D Center features high-speed sintering machines and related peripherals for pre-trial, post-process and quality control  and inspection. “We are pleased that we were able to welcome visitors from companies throughout the supply chain,” said Doug Edwards, Xaar’s CEO. “The 3D industry is an important part of our 2020 strategy and with this new 3D Center offers interesting growth opportunities available to Xaar.”
