Worldwide Mopria Installations Hit 2 Billion

On March 18th, the Mopria Alliance, a global non-profit membership organization that provides universal standards and solutions for mobile print and scan, announced more than 2 billion installations of Mopria technology. It also announced that there are now more than 4,000 Mopria-certified printer models.

The 2 billion installations of Mopria technology around the world include the Mopria Print Service app for Android devices, the Default Print Service offered in Android 8, 9 and 10, the Samsung Print Service for Samsung Galaxy phones, and the Microsoft Windows IPP Print Solution on Windows 10 devices.

Ingrid Kelly, chairman of the Steering Committee at the Mopria Alliance, commented: “We are ecstatic at the continued growth of Mopria and that our technology is now providing an optimum printing experience for more people in more places with 2 billion installations. The growth that we are experiencing each year with Mopria is a testament to the continued need for printing in the modern age. Mopria technology provides users with the flexibility of streamlined printing, with automatic printer discovery for more than 4,000 printer models and 120 million Mopria-certified printers accessible from any device running Android or Windows 10.

Connected through any wireless network or with Wi-Fi direct, users can easily print web pages, documents, or pictures to any Mopria-certified printer.

The Mopria Alliance was created by Canon Inc., HP Inc., Samsung, and Xerox, representing today’s global printer businesses. In addition to these founding companies, the Mopria Alliance today includes Adobe, Brother International, Electronics for Imaging (EFI), Epson, Fuji Xerox, Huawei, Lexmark International, Konica Minolta, Kyocera, Microsoft, OKI Data, Pantum, Primax, Qualcomm, Toshiba, Ricoh, Sharp, Xiaomi, and YSoft.

The Mopria Print Service is available for download from Google Play. For additional functionality, users can download Mopria Scan to scan directly to their mobile devices, share their scanned data, and organize their digital scan files.
