Canon Sees 14.9 Sales Growth in the Americas

Last week, Canon U.S.A. held its One Canon Event for press in Hollywood, Florida, with In-Plant Graphics reporting that several Canon executives gave an overview of the company’s progress.

According to In-Plant Graphics,  Canon U.S.A.’s Executive Vice President and General Manager Toyo Kuwamura reported that, for the last 12 months, Canon saw sales growth of 14.9 percent in the Americas, and that both Canon U.S.A.’s Business Imaging Solutions Group (BISG) and Canon Solutions America (CSA) saw 1 percent revenue growth in 2017, with CSA equipment sales growing 4 percent.

Canon also reported that while production (toner-based cut-sheet) unit sales grew more than 7 percent last year, inkjet production sales rose 24 percent in 2017.

Francis McMahon, newly appointed executive vice president of Production Print Solutions for Canon Solutions America, reported that Canon is number-one for total inkjet-production placements worldwide, with 36 percent of worldwide inkjet production placements through the third quarter of 2017, with that share increasing to 38 percent in the United States. Overall, total inkjet pages printed by Canon customers have now reached 138 billion.

According to In-Plant Graphics, two new products for 2018 include the Océ VarioPrint 6000 Titan Series and Océ ProStream continuous-feed inkjet printer, as well as a 10-foot version of the Colorado UVgel wide-format printer by the end of the year.

At the conference, Canon U.S.A.’s Canon Solutions America also reported that it’s selected encryption and data-protection technology solutions from new partner Vera to help protect Canon customers’ intellectual property and critical business information, eliminating data leaks and helping organizations protect digital information, including documents scanning with Canon imageRUNNER ADVANCE copier/MFPs and imaging solutions (see story here). For its part, Canon U.S.A. announced its third-generation imageRUNNER ADVANCE 2nd edition lineup, which features an emphasis on cloud connectivity and security (see story here).
