Cartridge World, a global third-party ink and toner retail franchise, reports that it’s developed a “one-of-a-kind” mobile-printing application called PrintWorld. The new application, which is said to be the brainchild of new Cartridge World CEO Steve Weedon and was developed with partner Samsung, will be demonstrated at the International Franchise Expo being held June 16-18 in New York City.

The application launch is the first step in a strategic program developed by Weedon that focuses on addressing the ever-increasing mobile workforce, which is projected to hit 105.4 million people by 2020. The next phase of the project will involve Cartridge World working directly with Samsung to place thousands of printers in free Wi-Fi areas across the United States, and, in the future, around the globe. Ideal partners for PrintWorld printer placement would be transportation hubs, retailers, shopping malls, and academic institutions.

Through the partnership with Samsung, Weedon contracted the development of the PrintWorld app, which gives users access to “print-on-the-go” mobile printing directly from their mobile devices. PrintWorld is said to feature full printer functionality for printing and scanning for use by anyone with a smartphone, tablet, or laptop.

With the new PrintWorld application, local Cartridge World franchise stores will in maintain printers and support all PrintWorld mobile-print locations, said to ensure that the Wi-Fi client is free from any responsibility to the printer, with stores enjoying increased mobile worker traffic. Cartridge World also says its franchisees will have a new revenue stream created through the app value downloads from users. Cartridge World also says the program will be “extremely beneficial” to PrintWorld clients, as they will have an “improved consumer perception,” with the added convenience of on-site printing and increased foot traffic, thus driving sales and profits.

“As a global network of local printing product and service experts, Cartridge World is perfectly poised to fill a need that has yet to be met in the mobile printing industry,” commented Cartridge World CEO Weedon. “By ensuring the printers are maintained and function flawlessly for our mobile app users, our stores are the ”missing link” as recognized by the imaging industry experts.”

Cartridge World opened its first store in the United States 13 years ago, and now has nearly 400 stores in North America and over 1,000 worldwide in 55 countries. It expects to add nearly 3,000 stores by 2019.
