New ezeep Dash Serverless Printing for PCs and Macs with Cloud-Based Print Management

Provider of printing and print-management solutions ThinPrint is launching a new serverless print-management solution, ezeep Dash, which will be available in the fourth quarter. The new solution, which ThinPrint is previewing at this year’s VMworld trade show, is said to fully migrate print-management to the cloud, while printing itself still takes place locally.

By eliminating the need to implement and manage on-site infrastructure, ThinPrint says ezeep Dash provides significant savings for companies of all sizes, as dedicated print servers can be eliminated, as well as reduce IT workloads and help-desk calls.

Previously, server-less printing (also called direct IP printing) required complex print management, mainly because print drivers needed to be manually installed on each user’s PC. However, ThinPrint says this shortcoming is overcome by ezeep Dash, which combines local IP printing with cloud-based print management. The result is that your employees print 100-percent on-premises, but the local print environment, including all print drivers, is managed in the cloud.

“ezeep Dash can be described as the Gmail or Salesforce of printing,” commented Thorsten Hesse, chief product officer at ThinPrint. “As Gmail makes the mail server unnecessary, and Salesforce makes the CRM Server obsolete, ezeep Dash means print servers are no longer required.”

With ezeep Dash, administrators can use its cloud portal to define printers and assign employees or groups. Everything else, including the installation of print drivers, adjustments for changes to IP addresses, and print-driver updates are all automatically taken care of by ezeep Dash and its agents on users’ computers.

Other features include:

  • Large pool of printer drivers, so that IT administrators no longer have to first search for drivers and then upload them to the cloud – instead can simply choose from a pool of thousands of printer drivers.
Users can manage their own printers without requiring IT support, as, in the background, ezeep Dash agents on PCs and Macs take care of most tasks, as print-driver installations and updates, or changes to IP addresses.
  • ezeep Dash enables local IP printing that doesn’t require an Internet connection, so that employees can continue to print even in the event of Internet outages.

ThinPrint says that with ezeep Dash, users can also manage the printers assigned to them via the ezeep Dash’s Self Service Portal. And, while printer allocation takes place in the cloud, the entire printing process continues to be available locally on the user’s device, even if the computer is offline.

ezeep Dash works with both Microsoft Windows and Apple Mac computers. Each user cost is $0.57/€0.57 per month. Other ezeep functionality, such as mobile printing, can be added.
