Lexmark ‘Two Series’ Brings Enterprise-Class Muscle to Small Businesses

Lexmark International today announced it’s bringing its enterprise scale strengths to a new line of printers designed for the SMB market. The Lexmark Two Series is designed for micro-workgroups looking to simply and securely print, copy, fax and scan, all within a compact and easy-to-use device.

The two new models follow-up on Lexmark’s extensive 2018 product launch – see With New A4 Lineup, Lexmark Completes 92-Percent Refresh of Hardware Lineup. These devices will be sold through the Lexmark Global Partner network and can be ordered directly from global distributors such as CDW, Staples, Fry’s, Printerland, and more.

The new introductions consist of the B22336dw standalone printer and MB2236adw MFP, with Terry Parker, portfolio director for Lexmark’s small-workgroup mono platform, noting: “These units target productivity, reliability, and value.”

Lexmark notes that micro-workgroups and small businesses remain an important growing segment, with ADP/Moody’s Analytics reporting that 89,000 small business positions were added in December 2018 alone. Marking Lexmark’s entry into this segment, the new models launched today feature fast monochrome output up to 36 ppm, plus standard two-sided printing, standard Wi-Fi connectivity, and support for mobile users, as well as Lexmark’s full-spectrum security that’s said to provide the same level of security and protection typically reserved for enterprise-class devices.

Lexmark’s Parker noted during an online Lexmark Webinair: “They provide Lexmark’s Full Spectrum Security just as with all other Lexmark products.” Lexmark’s security suite includes user and administrator access restriction; audit logging; digitally signed firmware upgrades; Lexmark Secure Document Monitor (which captures all content passed through the device),  and more. In contrast, some other competitors do not equip their small-business models with the security suites found with their higher-end models.

Lexmark also emphasized the compact size of both new models. For instance, the B22366dw measures just 8.5″ high x 14.0″ wide x 13.1″ deep, while the MFP version measures 13.9″ high x 16.4″ wide x 14.2″ deep.

The B2236dw printer ($159.99 Web price) features:

  • 36-ppm rated print speed
  • Maximum paper capacity of 251 pages
  • 1 GHz dual-core processor and 256 MB of memory
  • Standard WiFi wireless connectivity, wired Ethernet network interface, and USB 2.0 port
  •  Mobile-printing and scan-to-mobile support, including support for Mopria, Apple AirPrint, and Microsoft Windows Mobile.
  • 2-line display
  • Maximum monthly duty cycle of up to 30,000 pages; recommended is 250 to 2,500 pages
  • Standard automatic duplexing
  • Lexmark Unison Toner cartridges: Return Program toner cartridge ($79.99) yields up to 6,000 pages; there’s also a 1,200-page-yield toner cartridge ($44.99) and 3,000-page-yield toner cartridge ($79.99); an imaging unit ($81.99) is also required

The new MB2236adw ($229.99 Web price) is the MFP version of the B2236adw, and adds copy, color scan, analog fax, and simplex ADF, and also has more memory (512 MB).

With both units rated at up to 36 ppm, they fill out the lower end of Lexmark’s mono printer and MFP 200 line, with both top-of-the-line models – the B2650w printer and MB2650ade – rated at up to 50 ppm.
