HP Rolls Out ‘True-to-Screen’ Desktop Color Printers and All-in-Ones

On September 24th, HP introduced its new HP Envy 6100/6500 All-in-One Printer Series, which it says are true-to-screen, or “What You See Is What You Get” (WYSIWYG) printers that precisely print what’s displayed on screens.

The new series is designed for home use, including for remote workers at home and students.

True-to-Screen Printing

HP says the new models are the only native true-to-screen printers in their class, and HP is the only printing brand that offers support for native printing using the Display P3 color, which means printed output is a truer representation of what’s displayed on screen. There’s also borderless photo printing, and printing on on both sides of matte photo paper or cards to personalize the backs with messages, collages, etc.

The photos below are said to show the difference between HP’s true-to-screen printing and other printers:

Other Features

The Envy 6100/6500 series provide a 2.4” color touchscreen, and HP Smart app for printing from smartphones and laptops. HP is also promising more AI-powered enhancements in the future.

Eco-Friendly and EvoMore Ink Cartridges

The new models are made with 60-percent recycled plastic, and are delivered in recycled fiber packaging. They also use what HP calls its most sustainable ink-cartridge option, EvoMore, which is said to have half the carbon footprint and fewer cartridge replacements, with two times more printed pages versus a standard cartridge.

Four models are available, all with True-to-Screen printing, self-healing dual-band Wi-Fi connectivity, and duplex printing:

  • HP Envy 6155e ($139.99 MSRP), which is rated at up to 10 (black)/7 (color) ppm, and with print, scan, copy, mobile fax, and 2.4″ touchscreen.
  • HP Envy 6555e ($155.99 MSRP), which is the same as the Envy 6155e, but adds an automatic document feeder.
  • HP Envy Inspire 7255e ($129.99 MSRP), which is rated at up to 15 (black)/10 (color) ppm, and with 2.7″ touchscreen, print, scan, copy, and automatic document feeder. It also adds a photo paper tray and photo-formulated ink.
  • HP Envy Inspire 7955e ($219.99 MSRP) is the same as the 7255e, but adds an automatic document feeder.

The new models includes three months of HP Instant Ink and more with optional HP+ printing system. They’re available at HP.com, Amazon, and Staples.
