On October 1st, Fujifilm North America Corporation, Business Innovation Division, announced the U.S. launch of the Acuity TR, a new 1.6-meter (63”) wide roll-fed printer that it says sets a new standard for wide-format roll printing.
Equipped with Fujifilm’s Aquafuze water-based UV ink technology, the Acuity TR is said to provide impressive print quality and versatility, offering users a flexible, eco-conscious printing solution for a wide range of applications.
Aquafuze Inkjet-Printing Technology
The Acuity TR’s Aquafuze inkjet-printing technology combines photopolymer dispersion with water-based UV curing to reduce print-head nozzle clogging, improve ink ejection, and eliminate the need for primers, optimizers, or topcoats on a wide range of substrates. Offering a low odor, water-based alternative to traditional solvent and latex inks, Fujifilm says Aquafuze technology delivers strong adhesion, scratch resistance, and excellent rub resistance.
“As the wide-format field continues to grow and demands a larger variety of applications and substrates, we are thrilled to introduce the Acuity CUITY and our proprietary Aquafuze inkjet ink technology to the U.S. market,” commented Yuji Oki, general manager of Fujifilm North America Corporation, Business Innovation Division.
“This new technology – which combines benefits and characteristics of water-based and UV inks – represents a significant step forward offering a unique combination of quality, durability, and versatility. We are confident that our customers will appreciate the performance and broad application possibilities that Aquafuze inkjet technology provides and anticipate this becoming the new standard in wide format printing,” Oki said.
As the industry evolves, Fujifilm says there’s growing demand for inks that offer both high durability and the ability to stretch, the later of which is essential for products that require bending and further processing. In addition, ink safety, including minimizing solvent emissions and reducing odors during printing, is becoming an increasingly important factor in ink selection. Aquafuze inks are said to meet these demands, empowering print professionals to deliver premium results while maintaining a safer, more sustainable print environment.
Key features of the Acuity TR include:
- Aquafuze Ink Technology: Water-based UV inks with instant curing and a flexible, soft-touch finish that supports a broad range of media from delicate films to robust automotive wraps.
