Former HP Inc. Executive Appointed Xerox Chief Technology Officer

Xerox today announced the appointment of Naresh Shanker as chief technology officer and senior vice president, effective May 6th. Shanker will report to Xerox CEO and Vice Chairman John Visentin, and will serve as a member of the Xerox Executive Committee.
Shanker, who joined Xerox in January, will succeed Steve Hoover, who was appointed Xerox CTO in January 2017. Shanker will be responsible for research and product development and “an increasingly digital information technology operation.”
Prior to joining Xerox, Shanker was chief information officer of HP Inc. There, he is said to have led the company’s transition to a digital services business, “delivering material operational and bottom-line improvements through strategic and transformative IT programs.” He has also held senior leadership roles at Palm Inc. and Agilent Technologies, and holds a U.S. patent for developing software that enables high-volume, micro-transactions from a digital storefront.
Shanker is among several former HP executives to join Xerox management. In June 2018, Xerox appointed former Hewlett-Packard Enterprises executive Steve Bandrowczak to serve as president and chief operations officer. Additionally, Xerox CEO John Visentin also served in Hewlett-Packard’s Enterprise Division, while Mary McHugh, Xerox senior VP and chief delivery officer, served as an executive with Hewlett-Packard Enterprises.
