Canon Reports on Latest Toner-Cartridge Removals from Amazon

Canon Inc. of Tokyo, Japan, today reported on its recent activities in first-quarter 2023 to have third-party toner cartridges removed from the Amazon online marketplace.

Europe

In first-quarter 2023, Canon used the Amazon reporting tool, letters of inquiry and/or information letters to successfully remove 853 toner-cartridge listings from Amazon in Germany, Italy, Spain, the United Kingdom, France, and The Netherlands.

Since June 2018, the total number of listings removed from Amazon in Germany, Italy, Spain, the United Kingdom, France, and The Netherlands is 31,116.

The listings offered third-party laser toner cartridges from vendors that Canon believes infringed one or more of its European Patent No. 2 087 407, European Patent No. 2 137 577, European Patent No. 1 977 289, European Patent No. 3 470 931, and European Patent No. 3 270 230.

Canon stated that it respects the intellectual property rights of others and will continue to enforce its own intellectual property rights.

U.S., Canada, Mexico

Canon also reported that in first-quarter 2023, it used the Amazon reporting tool to report infringement based on 53 toner-cartridge listings, all of which have now been removed from Amazon in Canada, Mexico, and the United States.

Since June 2018, the total number of listings removed from Amazon in Canada, Mexico and the United States is 3,561.

The listings offered third-party laser printer toner cartridges from vendors that Canon believes infringed one or more of U.S. Patent No. 8,280,278, U.S. Patent No. 8,630,564, U.S. Patent No. 8,682,215, U.S. Patent No. 8,688,008, U.S. Patent No. 8,676,090, U.S. Patent No. 8,588,646, U.S. Patent No. 9,581,958, U.S. Patent No.11,169,483, U.S. Patent No.11,156,954, Canadian Patent No. 2,635,791, Canadian Patent No. 2,910,527, Mexican Patent No. 308881 and Mexican Patent No. 317598.
