Brother U.K. Extends Flagship X-Series Business Inkjet with New Models

On May 31st, Brother International U.K. upgrading its X-Series range of business-inkjet A3 color inkjet All-in-Ones with three new models, the MFC-J5955DW, MFC-J6955DW and MFC-J6957DW,

The new models are said to feature longer machine life and improved performance, for organizations with higher print volume requirements. They feature faster print speeds of up 30 ppm compared to the 22 ppm for previous models. Monthly duty cycle has also been boosted from 2,000 pages to 3,500 pages.

Brother expects its upgraded business-inkjet line up to form a key part of its managed print services (MPS) offering. The company’s MPS program provides automatic ordering replacement inks and toners when needed. At the end of MPS agreements, devices are refurbished and redeployed by the vendor.

Other improvements include better technology involving controlling flushing ink to create sharper prints, and pigment-based inks that provide denser blacks and more vivid colors for documents.

Sara Diggle, SMB business unit manager at Brother UK, commented: “Our flagship X-Series inkjet range now boasts an even more competitive spec sheet, with significant upgrades that help users to print more efficiently, while further meeting the goals of IT professionals.”

Diggle said that upgrading Brother’s X-Series inkjet range is a key part of a wider strategy to refresh the company’s inkjet models.

“Enhancing the range also strengthens our position as a leading vendor of choice when businesses require both laser and inkjet models to meet their printing requirements, following HP’s PageWide withdrawal,” Diggle said.

Each model features a 9.3cm LCD for user operation, with wired,USB and Near Field Connectivity (NFC) connectivity, as well as 2.4/5GHz Wireless with Wi-Fi direct and Wi-Fi Protected Setup (WPS) and standard business-security features.

They also feature up to three 250-page input trays, 100-page multi-purpose media tray, duplexing 20-sheet automatic document feeder (with scanning at 30 ipm), and high-yield ink cartridges (6,000 pages for black and 5,000 pages for each color).

The MFC-J5955DW provides A3 print, and A4 copy, scan, and fax and is priced at  £359.00 ($449). Two 250-sheet paper trays are standard.

The  MFC-J6957DW provides provides A3 print, copy, scan, and fax, but adds an additional 250-sheet paper tray for a total 750-sheet paper capacity. It’s priced at  £559.00 ($699).

The X-Series upgrade follows the launch of Brother’s Mini Business and Mini Regular A4 inkjet ranges last year, which are designed for small and home offices.
