On February 14th, 3D Systems and childrens’ toy company Hasbro reported a new partnership under which they will co-develop products powered by 3D printing for children and their families. The partnership combines Hasbro’s well-known portfolio of consumer brands, extensive expertise in children’s toys, and retail reach with 3D Systems’ portfolio of 3D printing products, platforms, and perceptual devices to mainstream new and innovative play and co-creation experiences at home and online. The new products will be available later this year.Through its two “digital-play” properties, DigitalDollhouse.com and Dreamhouse Designer Facebook app, the DPS platform combines home design, gaming, and community sharing to deliver a 3D create-and-make experience for children and their parents. Children and their parents can create and personalize 3D printed creations on a Cube 3D printer, or submit their 3D designs via the Web to have them printed using 3DS’ fulfillment service, which is available on its consumer site Cubify.
Jesyca Durchin, DPS founder and CEO commented, “We are thrilled to integrate our virtual and actual play experiences directly into the 3DS Cubify platform. Our vision is to deliver a ‘3D PlaySpace’ for everyone. The immersiveness and fun of our PlaySpace experience enhances brand recall and loyalty, enabling brands and retailers to connect with consumers in a whole new way. We designed Digital PlaySpace from the bottom-up for publishing flexibility and scalability, and 3DS is the perfect home for our growth.”
